Hollywood to LAX — Car Service for Airport Transfers
Hollywood is not one neighborhood. It’s a cluster of distinct communities each with its own character, its own traffic patterns, and its own relationship with Los Angeles International Airport. Whether you’re leaving from a hillside home in the Hollywood Hills, a boutique hotel in West Hollywood, a bungalow in Silver Lake, or an apartment in Los Feliz, the run to LAX is roughly 18 miles and takes anywhere from 30 minutes to well over an hour depending on when you’re traveling.
JM Transportation Services has worked this corridor long enough to know that it’s one of the most time-variable routes in the city. We plan for that variability, and so should you.
Hollywood's Neighborhoods and What Each Adds to the Route
Understanding where exactly you’re leaving from matters on this route more than almost any other. Hollywood proper the stretch along Hollywood Boulevard and Franklin Avenue sits at the core. But the surrounding neighborhoods all feed into the LAX run differently.
La Brea Avenue South to I-105 West
La Brea is one of the most direct north-south surface routes out of Hollywood and connects efficiently toward the 105. From the Hollywood / La Brea area, the route continues south through Inglewood before joining I-105 westbound into the airport.
Under normal traffic conditions, this option is efficient and straightforward. During the afternoon rush, however, La Brea south of the 10 can become noticeably slower through the Inglewood corridor, so departure timing becomes especially important.
US-101 West to I-110 South to I-105 West
This is the more freeway-oriented option. It begins on the 101 westbound from Hollywood, then continues onto the 110 south before merging onto the 105 westbound toward LAX.
While it adds freeway mileage, it can be the better choice when surface streets are congested. The 110 to 105 connection is generally one of the cleaner transitions for airport access in South Los Angeles, which helps create a more predictable approach into LAX.
Surface Streets Through Inglewood
When the primary routes are heavily delayed, an experienced driver may pivot through Inglewood using streets such as Western Avenue, Crenshaw Boulevard, or Prairie Avenue, depending on where the slowdowns are concentrated.
These alternatives are not always the most elegant on paper, but they can be the most practical when freeway traffic stops flowing. In airport transportation, adaptability matters just as much as route familiarity.
Travel Expectation
What Riders Should Normally Expect
The typical distance from Hollywood-area pickup points to LAX is approximately 18 miles. In favorable traffic conditions, travel time is usually around 30 to 45 minutes.
During peak windows — including weekday morning rush, Friday afternoon traffic, or incidents affecting the 405 or 110 — total travel time can extend to 60 to 90 minutes.
For that reason, we build a proper time buffer into every scheduled airport pickup and drop-off.
Entertainment Industry Clients and Early Morning Departures
Hollywood is the entertainment capital of the world and that’s not just a marketing phrase — it shapes the actual travel patterns of the people who live and work here. Production executives, talent, crew coordinators, music label staff, and agency professionals all move through LAX on irregular schedules. Early call times are common. A 6 a.m. flight means leaving at 4:15. A red-eye back from New York lands at midnight and needs a car waiting.
We understand these schedules. We don’t operate 9-to-5. Our [professional chauffeur service](/services/chauffeur-service-los-angeles/) operates around the clock — drivers are available at 3 a.m. for a 4:15 pickup with no premium surcharge for the hour. The rate is what the rate is — flat, predictable, and agreed upon when you book.
